Dudley Dough is a pizza cafe developed by Haley House, with a profit-sharing business model and a mission to support formerly incarcerated workers.
This 37-seat cafe was designed in close collaboration with Haley House to support their multi-faceted program. “Pizza with Purpose” is the mantra emblazoned on their storefront windows which adjoin the lobby of the new Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building in Roxbury’s Nubian Square.
The goal of economic inclusion and community engagement is at the heart of every aspect of the project: from employing local artists and craftspeople to create the artwork, furnishings and special features like the fused-glass countertop, to the locally sourced food ingredients—even veggies from the Thornton Community Garden, and hosting the popular Pie R Squared math tutoring program.
